    Sustainable Tenerife: A Living Classroom

    Duration4 Days
    CountrySpain

Few destinations let a class stand inside a lava tube, tour a renewable-energy research centre and clean a beach within four days; Tenerife does. This entry-level field trip treats the island as one working laboratory, taking your group from the Millennium Dragon Tree of Icod de los Vinos to ITER, Teide National Park and a night of stargazing, then underground at Cueva del Viento and onto a banana plantation.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival & Island Heritage

Your group lands in Tenerife, where the Tour Manager is waiting, and the private coach heads north. At Icod de los Vinos the first stop is the Millennium Dragon Tree, a symbol of the island's biodiversity and history. A cultural session on Canary Islands traditions then introduces Salto del Canario, with insight into how local communities adapted their practices and identity to the island's unique terrain. Dinner and overnight in Tenerife.

    2

    Day 2

ITER, Teide & the Night Sky

The day opens at ITER, the Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables, a research centre at the forefront of renewable energy, with first-hand insight into wind and solar projects, environmental technologies and sustainable development. The private coach then climbs into Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reading the volcanic landscapes and the geological processes that shaped the island. After dark, a guided stargazing session introduces astronomy and dark-sky preservation. Overnight in Tenerife.

    3

    Day 3

    Lava Tubes & Beach Clean-up

Your group ventures beneath the surface at Cueva del Viento, one of Europe's largest volcanic lava tubes, discovering how volcanic activity forms complex underground ecosystems. The afternoon turns hands-on with a beach clean-up on the Tenerife coast, where students contribute directly to environmental conservation while reflecting on the impact of human activity on marine ecosystems and the meaning of responsible tourism. Lunch separates the two sessions and dinner closes the day. Overnight in Tenerife.

    4

    Day 4

    From Farm to Future

After breakfast the private coach takes the group to a traditional banana plantation, where students learn about one of Tenerife's key agricultural industries, from production processes to the sustainability challenges it faces, closing the socio-economic strand of the programme. The field trip concludes with the transfer to the airport in Tenerife for departure, ending four days of learning in one of Europe's most remarkable natural laboratories.
