    Shrines of Iberia

    Duration12 Days
    CountrySpain, Portugal

From the Mezquita of Córdoba to the shrine of Fátima, this journey follows the faith and history that shaped Iberia. Your group crosses into Morocco for a single unhurried night in Tangier before returning through the Algarve to Lisbon, closing in Porto at a comfortable, senior-friendly pace throughout.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Madrid

Your group arrives in Madrid, where a private transfer takes everyone to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to settle in after the journey, and in the evening the group gathers for a welcome dinner that opens twelve days across Spain, Portugal and a single night in Morocco. Overnight in Madrid.

    2

    Day 2

    Royal Madrid & Toledo

After breakfast, a guided walk through central Madrid takes in the Royal Palace and the Plaza Mayor at an easy pace. The afternoon continues to Toledo, where narrow medieval streets, the Cathedral and the old Jewish quarter unfold on foot before the coach returns the group to Madrid. Overnight in Madrid.

    3

    Day 3

    South to Córdoba

Breakfast, then a comfortable coach journey south through the plains of La Mancha to Córdoba. The afternoon is set aside for a guided visit to the Mezquita-Catedral, where Islamic arches give way to a Renaissance cathedral built at its heart, followed by a stroll through the whitewashed Judería. Overnight in Córdoba.

    4

    Day 4

    Córdoba to Seville

After breakfast, a short coach transfer brings the group to Seville. The afternoon stays free for rest after the morning's travel, an easy pause built into the pace of the trip before two full days of Andalusian cities. Overnight in Seville.

    5

    Day 5

    The Heart of Seville

A guided morning through Seville's Alcázar and its gardens, followed by the Giralda and the Cathedral, covers the city's Moorish and Christian layers side by side. The afternoon is free for the group to browse the Santa Cruz quarter at its own rhythm. Overnight in Seville.

    6

    Day 6

    Crossing to Tangier

Breakfast, then a coach transfer to the port at Tarifa for the ferry crossing to Tangier — the shortest sea gap between Europe and Africa. On arrival, a guided walk through the kasbah and the medina introduces the group to Morocco before dinner and an overnight stay, the trip's single night outside Europe.

    7

    Day 7

    Return via the Algarve

After breakfast, the group re-crosses by ferry to Tarifa and continues by coach into Portugal along the Algarve coast. The afternoon stays unhurried, with time to rest by the coast after two consecutive travel days, before the journey turns north toward Lisbon tomorrow. Overnight in the Algarve.

    8

    Day 8

    The Algarve to Lisbon

Breakfast, then the coach heads north through the Alentejo, with a stop in walled Évora to see its Roman temple and historic centre, before continuing into Lisbon. The evening is free for the group to take a first look at the capital. Overnight in Lisbon.

    9

    Day 9

    Belém & Central Lisbon

A guided morning covers the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower, both raised in the age of Portugal's maritime explorers, followed by the hilltop viewpoints of the Alfama in the afternoon. In the evening, the group gathers for a dinner in central Lisbon. Overnight in Lisbon.

    10

    Day 10

    Journey to Fátima

After breakfast, the coach travels north to Fátima, where the group visits the Sanctuary grounds and the Basilica at the heart of one of the world's best-known Marian shrines. The rest of the day stays free for quiet time at the site before the group settles in for the night. Overnight in Fátima.

    11

    Day 11

    Óbidos, Nazaré & Porto

Breakfast, then a scenic route north calls at the walled village of Óbidos and the clifftop fishing town of Nazaré, both easy stops for a senior group, before the coach continues to Porto. The evening stays free after a full day on the road. Overnight in Porto.

    12

    Day 12

    Porto & Farewell

A guided walk through Porto's Ribeira district along the Douro river leads to a historic cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia for a guided tasting. In the evening, the group gathers for a farewell dinner to close a journey across Iberia and a single night in Morocco. End of our services.
