    Learning Through Spain

    Duration8 Days
    CountrySpain

Picasso's Guernica and the Royal Palace before a single Roman stone: your group starts in Madrid, then heads south by private coach through Mérida's theatre, Seville's Alcázar, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba and the Albaicín of Granada. A tour manager in every city and licensed local guides frame each visit as a lesson, and the Alhambra shares the last full day with hands-on STEM at Granada's Science Park.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Madrid

Your group lands at Madrid-Barajas, where an English-speaking tour manager is waiting in the arrivals hall for the meet and greet, and a private coach runs into the city for check-in. After the long-haul journey the rest of the day stays free, giving students and teachers time to rest and settle in before the programme begins. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

    2

    Day 2

    Guernica & the Royal Palace

After breakfast a guided visit to the Reina Sofía National Museum, Spain's principal collection of modern and contemporary art, where Picasso's Guernica anchors a lesson on how art records political events. In the afternoon a guided walk through the historic centre takes in the Royal Palace, visited inside, the Almudena Cathedral, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, tracing Madrid's growth from royal capital to cultural city. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

    3

    Day 3

Roman Mérida on the Way South

Breakfast and check-out, then the private coach heads south-west towards Andalusia with a stop in Mérida, the Augusta Emerita founded in 25 BC as capital of Roman Lusitania and today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit centres on the Roman Theatre, one of the finest surviving examples of Roman engineering, before lunch and the drive on to Seville. Dinner and overnight in Seville.

    4

    Day 4

    Alcázar, Cathedral & Flamenco

Breakfast at the hotel, then a full day of guided exploration in Seville. Your group enters the Royal Alcázar, the Cathedral and its Giralda tower, then walks the lanes of the Santa Cruz quarter, following the thread from Islamic rule through the Reconquista to the city's role as gateway to the Americas. In the evening an authentic flamenco performance accompanies dinner. Overnight in Seville.

    5

    Day 5

    Córdoba, City of Three Cultures

After breakfast the private coach continues to Córdoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and once capital of the Umayyad Caliphate. A guided tour covers the Mosque-Cathedral, the historic Jewish Quarter, the Roman Bridge and the old town, with the students examining how Christian, Muslim and Jewish communities shared one of medieval Europe's great centres of science and philosophy. Dinner and overnight in Córdoba.

    6

    Day 6

    Granada & the Albaicín

Breakfast, then departure by private coach for Granada. On arrival a guided walking tour climbs into the Albaicín, one of the city's oldest quarters, where narrow streets and traditional houses open onto views of the Alhambra across the valley. Time permitting, the walk extends to the Cathedral area and the Royal Chapel, closing the story of the last Muslim kingdom on the peninsula. Dinner and overnight in Granada.

    7

    Day 7

    Alhambra & the Science Park

After breakfast the day belongs to Granada's two great classrooms. A guided visit to the Alhambra and the Generalife Gardens reads Islamic architecture, mathematics and engineering at first hand, its timing set by the official ticket allocation. The Granada Science Park follows with hands-on exhibitions on technology, biodiversity, astronomy and the human body. A half-day at the Nerja Caves is available on request as an alternative. Farewell dinner and overnight in Granada.

    8

    Day 8

    Farewell & Barajas Transfer

After breakfast the private coach collects your group in Granada for the long transfer north to Madrid-Barajas Airport, where the programme ends in time for the journey home. A packed lunch is provided for the road. Eight days that moved from Picasso and the Royal Palace through Roman Mérida and the three cultures of Andalusia close here. End of our services.
