From the travel agency, they requested to have different experiences and strong emotions:

-Yes, they want to come to Catalonia, they arrive in the beginning of October and this is the budget per person. They don’t want to know anything of the trip’s itinerary, only the day and time of arrival and departure. They are energetic and sporty, they want to be surprised.

Wow! -I thought to myself- what a great opportunity! I stood up from my chair excited and I went to the back of the office where everybody else was having breakfast. When I told them about the project, I received a flood of ideas.

To get moving, one of the suggestions that won was: a visit to the wineyards in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and Cavatast, a tasting fair of cavas, Catalan sausages, traditional sweets and chocolate done in the town.

We arrive to the Sant Sadurni’s town hall’s square and we have breakfast at the terrace of the Café de la Plaça.

-Guess where Mike is? -says Sandro, who entered the Café to order a cigaló (rum with coffee)-. He is concentrated playing domino with a group of grandpas. The best part is, he only speaks English and is nodding to everything he is told.

One hour later we have to drag him out which upsets him but he soon gets over it as soon as he sees the electric scooters.

-Get on them, guys. You are going to hallucinate with the Penedés landscapes!

We spend all morning racing on the electric scooters and in the afternoon, we try food and cavas from the area. Outcome: most of them have fallen asleep like babies on the bus.

Good, they need to rest because tomorrow will be another intense day. Saturday: personalized wake-up call at 6AM.

-Good morning! It is 6 AM in Sparta! We will meet up in one hour in the reception with sports clothes.

We are ready and although it is very early, half an hour later everybody is incredibly motivated about today’s plan. We are going to Suria, a town close to Cardona, to participate in the Spartan Race, a hurdle race sponsored by Reebok from which you end up full of mud.

-Go, go, Sandro! Com’on! -Lara yells while she has just jumped over a big wooden hurdle-.

-You have to burn down all the cava you had last night!

At night, while having dinner we all laugh remembering, we show them a video we have put together with the best moments of the race.

-Today is the last day so it will be more relaxed. We will enjoy the weekend and do some nice hiking routes and discover places from our country. This is my friend Edu, he is in love with Catalonia, as well as a Star Wars fanatic.

-After that Spartan Race…I can do anything! -Mike says while he shows off his muscles and everybody cracks up-.

-Mike, don’t be such a show off because I almost had to hold you at the end of the race…-answers Lara and Mike starts chasing her-.

-Mike, stop tickling me or I will show the video of the race to your friends from the gym-she says while she is crying out of laughter-.

No bus this morning. We have rented motorcycles and we drive up to the Cost Brava. Once there we follow the path from Sant Antoni de Calonge to Platja d’Aro.

-Beautiful. Look at the water it’s a turquoise color and the shape of the rocks. Edu, what is the name of the cove?

-Roques Planes cove. Yes, and it is also an excellent place for snorkeling and then having a picnic. What do you think?

-Yes, I cannot wait to try the Iberian ham and the famous pa amb tomàquet.

The day before we leaving we have a final surprise: a helicopter tour of Barcelona passing by the Agbar tower, the Sagrada Familia, Barceloneta, Montjuic, the Camp Nou, finally flying over the Montserrat mountain.

-I know you all enjoyed the views of the mountain…but, I have fallen in love with Barça’s stadium-says Mike-.

-If you come back in Winter, we will take you to a match and take you to another place which is amazing: La Vall de Núria, where there is a lake that freezes during the Winter and we can snorkel under the ice.

All of this gives them more ideas for their next trip and we say goodbye with a see you soon.
